Silver Shadows Rehoming & Education was found in 2015 when known as Equal Equine Rehoming & Education.

As of 2021 the name was transformed to what its currently known today.

when 2 horse lovers came together with a common passion and desire to give horses that had cut their craft on the racing circuit another opportunity to add another chapter to their stories as off the track horses, either as companion horses, show horses, or trail riding horses. 

We specialise in standardbreds but do also take on thoroughbreds and most other breeds. 

We provide OTT retraining and rehoming, pre training, full breaking to either saddle or harness and groundwork and float training.

We work closely with trainers, owner and breeders within both racing codes, we take on all genders including colts, stallion and broodmares. 

Our name itself has been designed and incorporated with 2 of our own personal horses’ names (Silver Ranger and Shadow) that have given us so much pleasure and joy in their own respectful disciplines, with using their names it ensures we maintain a high level of horsemanship and professionalism just as these 2 horses did in their lives.

Horses that leave us will carry along the name of our establishment, and how they present and carry themselves, that’s why we ensure we dot the i’s and cross the t’s before any horses leave us, no horse leaves until it can pass multiple temperament and exercise tasks. We strive to hand horses to their new owners at a level where we would be happy for our own family to have them. 

Between the 2 of us we have extensive knowledge in horses, vet needs, thoroughbred racing, standardbred racing, showing, equine nutrition and farrier work. 

Between us we have the following experience as a collective; previously working in leading thoroughbred and standardbred racing stables, Laucke Mills and Adelaide Vet. Along with 15 years of training standardbreds, trial and race driving, showing, riding breakers, shoeing and courses in equine well-being, feeding and husbandry. 

We treat each horse that comes to us like it’s one of our own. They all come with their own story, hence why each horse has a different time allocation with how fast we expect them to progress.

With our current location we are able to assist each horse with their own training program, paddock/stable and their own feed regime, all contributing to each individual horse finding their forever home. 

Please understand we are a self funded and family oriented facility, we provide a service for client horses which helps ease the weekly expense of running an operation that is moving horses all around Australia to help provide a fairytale ending for many horses. When horses are sold that money is put back into the horses, along with raffles we do at Christmas.

Being family run it means that our beautiful children also had a hand in helping these horses, so when we rehome a horse we are not just handing over a “horse” we are entrusting you with a special part of our extended family, and a high chance why the children wake up and want to go to the horses instead of watching cartoons
